A historic rose grown since the 1500's. Upright, vigorous shrub. Tall arching stems hold clusters of old-fashioned showy, single coppery orange-red flowers w/ yellow reverse cover. Sometimes produces all yellow flowers. Strong sweet licorice fragrance. Size: 6-8' x 6-8'. Great for hedges. Will spread by sending up underground shoots. Excellent choice for harsh climates or marginal soils. Sport of Rosa foetida. Very hardy. USDA Z3.
