Heirloom-This is one of the most tender & delicately flavored leaf lettuces. Easy to grow & quick to mature. It quickly produces a full sized, bt. grn open head w/slightly crinkled lvs. Withstands heat, drought, & lt. frost. Slow to bolt. It is a popular baby leaf variety for a bright green contrast to mixes. Resistant to downy mildew, lettuce drop, white mold, sclerotinia & tip burn. Full sun to part shade. Developed by George Raleigh, Cornell University & AAS Winner in 1963. Soft, buttery-textured leaves enclose a crisp, juicy, loose inner head of blanched, sweet-tasting leaves & the most nutritious of all lettuces. Forms a small 6" fan-shaped rosette, good for salads & lettuce wraps. A "cut & come again," so harvest outer leaves along the way. Sun/part shade. Very heat tolerant. A unique, sweet romaine with excellent bolt tolerance. Medium-size, compact romaine is very upright with improved summer performance. Heirloom - Devolped by local Sonoma County farmer Oliver Crane by crossing a cantaloupe with a Japanese melon. This Crenshaw-type melon produces 4-6 pound teardrop-shaped fruit that have light-orange flesh that is very sweet and juicy. The skin is green with orange spots when ripe. Plant in sun.
